Published Date: April 30, 2026

In this episode of Wisdom for Wannabes, host Jackie Morreale sits down with women's empowerment coach Raquel Baez to explore her journey from corporate marketing into a purpose-driven career helping women build confidence, clarity, and balance. Drawing from her background in business, wellness, and coaching, Raquel shares how self-trust, intentional choices, and small, consistent shifts can create powerful transformation. She challenges the idea that women “lose themselves,” instead reframing it as shrinking to meet expectations, and offers practical tools to reconnect with one’s true voice. At its core, the conversation is a reminder that growth doesn’t have to be overwhelming: it starts with a single choice, the courage to stop playing small, and the willingness to trust yourself fully.

Interview Transcript:

Jackie Morreale (00:00)
Hello and welcome to Wisdom for Wannabes, the podcast that seeks to find wise words in business, beauty and betterment. I am the host, Jackie Morreale.

Today, I'm sitting down with someone who has stepped fully into her purpose as a coach, helping women reclaim their confidence, clarity, and direction.

Raquel Baez is dedicated to empowering women to break through limiting beliefs, navigate life transitions, and build lives that truly reflect who they are meant to be. Through her coaching, she helps women move forward with intention, not just dreaming about change, but actually creating it in their lives.

I have personally known Raquel Baez for 15 years, and I am so proud of you and all that you have accomplished. One more time, Raquel Baez, welcome to Wisdom for Wannabes! Thank you so much for being here. I can't wait to learn more from you.

Raquel Baez (00:56)
Thank you so much, Jackie. I'm so thrilled to be here and I know this is going to be a fantastic chat.

Jackie Morreale (01:03)
Let's go right into the questions. For people who might be meeting you for the first time, tell me more about yourself: Your full name, where you're from, and where you live now?

Raquel Baez (01:10)
My name is Raquel Baez. I grew up between Miami, Florida and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I have also lived in Chicago for six years, as well as Los Angeles for five years.

I came back to Miami a little over two years ago. I'm excited to be here. My family is here in Miami, and it's fun to be closer to them.

Jackie Morreale (01:30)
I'm so happy you're back. In your own words, what do you do, and what is your passion?

Raquel Baez (01:37)
I've taken three distinct paths in terms of my career, and each of them has contributed to the others. I started in corporate, in digital marketing and advertising technology, which I've been in consistently for many years. Also, my coaching, which is empowerment coaching for women. I also work in wellness with yoga and meditation practices.

They each provide a different perspective, and I can use all of my skills across three different paths.

Jackie Morreale (02:08)
I love how you've brought them all together. It really feels exactly like what we're trying to do here with Wisdom for Wannabes with business, beauty, and betterment. It's like this triple threat: marketing, coaching, and yoga meditation guru machine. I'm so happy that you found this calling and your purpose and direct it towards women who also need help in these areas. How did you get into the coaching piece of it?

Raquel Baez (02:30)
Many years ago, and I think this happens to everyone at some point, when you have that little bit of the quarter life crisis, the self-reflection, who am I, what do I want to do in my life, etc. When that happened, I did a lot of self-reflection. I was going through a lot of self-discovery to better understand myself.

Coaching came to be because I've always been able to hold space naturally for others. It's not easy to do. When we talk about holding space, it's about allowing people to be fully themselves without external opinions or judgment from others. That always allowed me to connect with others in a way where they were able to open up to me, and I could be able to give them some form of guidance.

I wasn't aware of the coaching profession until a friend of mine said, 'Why are you not doing coaching professionally?' I looked into it.

I'm the kind of person who, when I do something, I want to do it very well. I decided to take a training course through the International Coaching Federation. I wanted to do it well, and it was a year-long course.

I learned about myself. I learned how I wanted to coach and how I want to support others in the best way possible. I found that my niche was empowerment coaching for women. That began to evolve and grow, and all of my personal experience, as well as connecting with women who shared similar experiences, started to come into fruition.

Jackie Morreale (04:03)
You committed to your own discovery, reflection, and found this amazing program, and had this amazing friend. I don't know if it was a guy or a gal who kind of said, 'Why aren't you doing this?’ Isn't it great to have that person or people in your life who can tell you something that's obvious to everybody else in the room that lights you up? Then you pursued it, and here you are.

That moment that you realized coaching is what I'm meant to be doing was that conversation with your friend, or was there a different moment that was your 'aha'?

Raquel Baez (04:33)
My 'aha' moment came after I started pursuing that path professionally. I had my first client, I saw the growth, I saw the impact that I was making.

I knew that this was something that I had a calling for. It filled me up with so much joy. My reward is seeing others grow.

To discover those pieces of themselves that they always had, but they never understood that were already there.

Jackie Morreale (04:59)
Before we dive deep into the meaning of life, let's find out about Raquel Baez's favorite things with some quick-fire questions. You ready for this?

Raquel Baez (05:09)
Absolutely. Let's go.

Jackie Morreale (05:10)
Let's go. Okay, whatever you have off the top of your head. Raquel, what is your favorite food?

Raquel Baez (05:13)
Right off the bat, Italian. I'm a foodie, I like all kinds of food. I also have an inclination towards Japanese and Spanish food, from Spain. I can appreciate all food, but comfort food, Italian.

Jackie Morreale (05:28)
Do you have a favorite Dominican dish? Just curious.

Raquel Baez (05:29)
If I had to pick a Dominican dish, Mangu, which is mashed plantain, that is a comfort food

as well. I grew up with Mangu, and if you're Dominican, you will know the power of Mangu.

Jackie Morreale (05:42)
Love it. What is your favorite place? Because you've been to many.

Raquel Baez (05:46)
I have many favorite places, but the places that impacted me throughout my life had to do with nature. Every state that I've lived in or every country that I've been in, I've been in areas of nature that are untouched.

A connection to the earth gives me a lot of peace. Those become in my bucket of favorite places.

Jackie Morreale (06:07)
Amazing for grounding to be among nature, I love it. What is your favorite book if you had to pick one?

Raquel Baez (06:09)
Absolutely. By far, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho.

Jackie Morreale (06:16)
This is the first time in ‘Wisdom for Wannabes history’ right now where a book has been nominated by two people as their favorite book. Clearly, this needs to go to the top of my list because I have not yet read it. What is your favorite song, artist, or type of music?

Raquel Baez (06:21)
You do. My favorite, and I appreciate so many different genres, but the artist that really impacted me the most growing up was Whitney Houston. Her voice is so powerful, continues to transpose decades in time and space. She is a true powerhouse woman and I love the way that her voice comes across.

Jackie Morreale (06:54)
Me too. Not that I have experienced singing Bodyguard in the shower very loud at any point in my life. Favorite quote, if you had to pick one? Or mantra.

Raquel Baez (06:58)
One of my favorite quotes comes from The Alchemist.

It goes, 'There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.'

So, a dream is only impossible if you have a fear of failure. That, for me, has been very powerful in how I approach life.

Fear is the real limitation that we impose on ourselves.

Everything that we desire that is born within our hearts as a dream of what we want to do is there for a reason. The only way that can be challenged or obstructed is if we impose fear upon ourselves.

Jackie Morreale (07:37)
It's such a perfect little 30-second meditation to hear you speak through those words. Was there a moment where everything changed for you?

Raquel Baez (07:45)
The moment that I realized how important it was for me to stand in my power and use my voice unapologetically.

Jackie Morreale (07:54)
Me too, yay. Fill in the blank. Transformation starts with....?

Raquel Baez (07:55)
With you.

Jackie Morreale (08:01)
That was amazing.

Raquel Baez (08:02)
A little add to that: and a choice.

Jackie Morreale (08:05)
Miami means... this to you?

Raquel Baez (08:07)
Connection to my culture and my family.

Jackie Morreale (08:10)
Finish the sentence, I am becoming blank....?

Raquel Baez (08:13)
I'm becoming everything I've always dreamed of.

Jackie Morreale (08:16)
Wisdom for wannabes is....?

Raquel Baez (08:18)
The most amazing platform for inspirational voices and growth.

Jackie Morreale (08:21)
Now I'm going to cry.

Let me switch this, to this or that: Coffee or Tea, or something harder?

Raquel Baez (08:28)
Coffee, cafecito, if you're in Miami. I have to start the day with a little cafecito in the morning.

Jackie Morreale (08:30)
Yes! Is there a best place, somewhere in Brickell, or a place you could recommend?

Raquel Baez (08:37)
If you go to a Cuban spot and there's a ventanita, a little window, you're going to get really good coffee there. There are some good spots where you can do that. They are the historical, always ‘go to’ spots, like Versailles or Sergio's. They have really great coffee.

Jackie Morreale (08:55)
Versailles, forget it, the croquetas de jamón, you're making me hungry... so I'm going to go to the next one: salsa or bachata?

Raquel Baez (09:03)
It's a hard one because I'm Latin. I love both. I'm also Dominican, so I have to say bachata, but I also love salsa. I have to say both; a close second.

Jackie Morreale (09:12)
Close second. That's fair. Beach, swim, or Everglades hike?

Raquel Baez (09:17)
I would be more drawn to a beach swim. I’m an island girl. I grew up on an island. Having the beach is part of it.

Jackie Morreale (09:24)
Morning or night person?

Raquel Baez (09:25)
I tend to be a morning person, but I also find situations where night unfolds in an awesome way, but I am a morning person.

Jackie Morreale (09:34)
I wish I could make that into me as well.

Rest or hustle? And I think I know the answer to this one.

Raquel Baez (09:40)
Both. I'm all about balance. You have to really read yourself on when it's time to hustle and when it's time to rest. So you can continue to hustle, you have to rest.

Jackie Morreale (09:48)
I love that answer. What holds people back more, fear or habits?

Raquel Baez (09:56)
Definitely fear. Sometimes it's a soft voice, sometimes it's a loud voice, but usually that's the root of a lot of the hesitations we have as individuals.

Jackie Morreale (10:07)
You're helping women to get over this loud or soft voice and get over our own fears and self-limitations. You're focusing on women. A lot of us lose ourselves in the different seasons of life. I know that's applicable for me, whether it's career, motherhood, or relationships.

How do you help women reconnect with themselves?

Raquel Baez (10:28)
When I think about the word 'lose', I don't feel that we ever lose ourselves. We just shrink ourselves to meet certain expectations for each of these roles we're facing.

To rediscover who we already were and already are, that's the piece that comes into play when I'm working with women.

Since I work with a lot of women professionals, all of these different aspects always have a root in how we're looking at them as, I need to meet these expectations.

We have to approach it in trifold. This is the awareness of: Where am I overextending? Where am I feeling that not allowing me to fully be in my truth, and myself? Is there conditioning that's coming into play on shrinking myself, having to overextend, being in a space of people pleasing? How do we revert back to rediscovering what you really want and who you really are? How can you express that more fully, knowing these other factors may be coming into play?

Jackie Morreale (11:28)
Wow, I'm really happy that we're recording this because I wish I had my pen and paper. That's such good advice. If we were going to break it down to those three things one more time, it was...?

Raquel Baez (11:32)
One, awareness. Knowing that you're overextending or there's areas that are limiting you.

Second, identifying conditioning. That could be cultural, could be anything that you've been exposed to that makes you believe that you have to be a certain way, approach things a certain way, live up to a certain expectation.

Third, self-analysis of where I can come back into who I really am and where my true voice comes through.

Jackie Morreale (12:05)
It sounds like you're really giving women a set of tools. Identify habits and patterns. Find what they really want and their purpose. Build the confidence to pursue that, no matter what kind of role that you have, or want to improve.

How does your background in marketing and meditation build into your coaching practice, and help women with a very different perspective?

Raquel Baez (12:30)
I'm working with professionals seeking to gain confidence and balance, understanding that a lot of the environments they're in, especially in the corporate setting.

A lot of women feel that it is difficult to really shine when it comes to being vocal, creating healthy boundaries, or understanding the steps it takes to build that confidence. Being in that space throughout the course of my career has given me a really in-depth perspective on that.

From the angle of my wellness background, understanding how important balance and being able to have tools to help regulate yourself, to ground yourself, to do intentional breathing.

All of these things are assets we have at our disposal at all times to create a more balanced life.

From one aspect of your journey, whether career, relationships, everything else, they all intertwine with each other because it's the way that you are showing up. Your power, your truth, the way that you are as an individual, is going to shine most, number one, when you trust yourself. Self-trust is so key.

Building that is how you're going to propel into creating all of these other areas of your life.

Jackie Morreale (13:49)
The empathy that you have with women at different stages of their career, having been in those corporate settings where maybe you didn't feel as though you were able to set up those boundaries or use your voice in the way that you do now… I love that you can empathize, optimize their situation, bring these tools to the game so people can step into their power, no matter what situation they feel they are in, and 'unstuck' themselves.

If someone listening does feel stuck in whatever situation they're in, without physically leaving this space, is there one mindset shift that they can take to immediately change their trajectory?

Raquel Baez (14:30)
I'm going to go back to the previous question you mentioned about transformation. The first step of any mindset shift is making a choice.

One small choice, different from what you're used to.

That small choice will have a ripple effect.

We feel at times that growth has to be loud and massive and very heavy in that moment. It actually doesn't work that way because growth is not linear. Growth needs to happen in increments, especially when you're building out of a space that you're used to.

The consistency of creating a shift in the choices that you make is how you're going to see that massive change.

Jackie Morreale (15:13)
That's incredible. That's empowering, right? It's up to you. It's your choice. It can grow at any moment; it's up to you.

Are there any specific habits or daily practices that you rely on to stay grounded or focused that you can share with other women who might want to gain some of those skills as well?

Raquel Baez (15:18)
Absolutely. I'm still in corporate spaces, and I deal with a lot of different personalities. It does require a grounding moment for me. Mornings, I'll wake up and start with a 15-minute meditation. I'll do some intentional breathing. I'll step away and walk outside.

Those are things that are necessary to create a bit more of that disconnect from going down the rabbit hole, as they say, where you start spinning your wheels too much.

Those small acts of intentionality.

Listen, a meditation looks different for someone else. For me, it looks like I like to sit in silence. I like to breathe.

But maybe meditation could be for someone who likes to go for a run or goes to listen to some music.

Those are things we feel comfortable with as individuals, and they inspire us to kind of disconnect and maintain more of that balance, which brings us peace.

Jackie Morreale (16:33)
What is one piece of wisdom that you hope every woman carries with her after hearing this?

Raquel Baez (16:40)
Number one, you don't have to shrink.

You don't have to overextend to feel chosen, whether in your career, relationships, or life.

It's so important that we learn to trust ourselves because that's the basis of confidence, and balance begins with boundaries.

Jackie Morreale (16:58)
Any shout-outs to people who have helped you get to where you are in your own journey?

Raquel Baez (17:03)
There are so many.

I'd like to start, number one, with my mother. She was the first empowered woman who taught me about being unapologetic, to be authentic, and not to be afraid to use my voice.

I have so many amazing women in my life, including you.

There's all of this inspiration that comes from being surrounded by people who are encouraging you, who are giving you the example of what's possible. I've been so blessed to be able to come across individuals who have shared their stories with me, who have shown me what resilience is.

To be able to then also take that path myself, and continue to see the potential of what's possible. I'm just so grateful for it.

Jackie Morreale (17:55)
That's so beautiful. Well, it takes one to know one. So good job, mama. You raised a beautiful, strong daughter, just like you, who knows her voice and is authentic. I love that it all stems right from home.

What is next for you, Raquel Baez? And how do people go about finding more about you, what's it like to work with you, all the next steps? I want to know all of them.

Raquel Baez (18:18)
When it comes to coaching, I have three different offerings. I have a small group of women with whom I do one-on-one coaching. I do have some open slots for that. I also do group coaching for corporate events or workshops. I recently did a workshop for reclaiming your voice with an amazing group of women.

I also do keynote speeches for events. Those are really strong offerings I bring to my coaching practice. I am very excited to be able to give those.

I'm looking forward to all the new projects that are coming my way.

Jackie Morreale (18:57)
Amazing. I know you grew up in Miami and in Santo Domingo, so you're able to do this for women who speak both English and Spanish?

Raquel Baez (19:06)
Yes, I am fully fluent in Spanish and English.

Miami is definitely the melting pot of cultures, and there's a reason I'm back here again. I'm excited to see how it all unfolds.

Jackie Morreale (19:18)
Right? Miami is a place of change and new beginnings. It's a place where we as women can reinvent ourselves, and other women can reinvent too, and live their dreams every single day by making that choice.

I'm sure that your clients in LA and Chicago miss you desperately. But I'm so happy to have you back home.

Is there anything else that we should know about getting in touch with you? Tell me more.

Raquel Baez (19:43)
Absolutely. You can reach out to me at RaquelBaezCoaching.com. I also have an Instagram, @RaquelBaezCoaching, I'm happy to connect and discuss any questions. I'm very open. I know there's sometimes questions about how everything works. Those are two great avenues to reach out to me on.

I feel so empowered. All it takes is a half hour with Raquel Baez, and I am ready to charge and take on the world and use my voice and be authentic to myself. It's just a feeling, like an aura or something, that you exude that other people can pick up on your energy.

Raquel Baez (20:18)
That's so kind, I'm thrilled that that's how you feel, Jackie. Thank you.

Jackie Morreale (20:18)
Thank you so much for coming. I'm just so proud to know you and watch you grow and do your thing.

Raquel Baez (20:24)
You as well, Jackie, cheers to this amazing platform. I'm so excited for both of us. Thank you so much again.

Jackie Morreale (20:34)
Yes, thank you, too. Have a wonderful day!

Raquel Baez (20:37)
You too.
